Which Is More Profitable? Blog Or Forum

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

I just got employed to moderate a forum. It is fun sitting behind the “virtual walls” and keeping tab on others activity. Oh, I have been enjoying myself. I just started the job (no pay though, just some volunteering). After two days, the curious me is begining to think, which is more profitable for an online entrepreneur? A blog or a forum. I love digging for new ways to earn money online. So long the idea is legal and above board morally.

In my opinion, a blog is expensive to maintain. Not just in monetary terms, but also in terms of other resources. A blogger has to be a jack of all trades, at least in the begining, until he is capable of employing staff or outsourcing some of those unpleasant tasks. e.g. Search Engine Optimization (SEO), web design and layout, building backlinks, upgrading blogging software, securing site against hackers etc. I will rather spend my time writing down my ramblings and socialising with friends around the globe. Well that may be my personal preference, maybe you enjoy those task, while I don’t. (more…)

Stolen Content Damages Authors Reputation and Site Credibility!

Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008

What determines the quality of an article? The perceived usefulness of the information it provides or the integrity of the author. I bet you don’t feel safe acting on information provided by a known cheat! You will rather do business with a fellow who has proved that he is honest. Men and women of high integrity get peoples attention effortlessly. They can sway people’s opinion even when their stand on an issue conflicts with experts opinion. The bottom line is people trust and listen to men of integrity.

It is based on this knowledge that I have been laboring to build a good reputation online.  I want people to know me as a man of integrity. Also, I strife to ensure that my websites gain and maintain credibility.  I was terribly upset when I discovered that some new bloggers lacks this knowledge and they have been stealing my articles! Change Of Web Hosting Company Update

Friday, July 11th, 2008

Hi friends, it is almost 72hours after I changed my web hosting company. The site is up and running (if you can read this), however, there are so many things that I still need to work on. That has made it almost impossible for me to respond to comments and emails. Please do bear with me. Hopefully, I will resume normal posting from next week. For now, I am too busy learning all I can to get my site back to its original state or preferably a better state than what it was before the change to a new web hosting company.

4 Months Old NaijaEcash Forced To Change Web Hosting Company

Wednesday, July 9th, 2008

I was forced to change from my former hosting company to a new one after a protracted “incessant server outage”. My former hosting company support staff are quite friendly and they tried to encourage me to continue using their service, however, after receiving several emails and queries from my readers complaining that my website is often offline, I knew I had to change.

Why did it take me so long to change? Simple, I was afraid of the process of changing from one web hosting company to another. I have read several posts on the necessary steps to take, and my new hosting company promised to assist me all the way, but I wasn’t convinced. There are too many scary stories of people loosing their entire posts and other valuable data during such changes. There is also the danger of loosing Google Rank and other traffic statistics that had been built up with so much effort. (more…)
