Time to Show Appreciation

Saturday, April 5th, 2008

It is time to show appreciation to all those who have played one role or the other in helping NaijaEcash.com, to survive her first 30days of existence.
My first profound appreciation goes to the Almighty God who is the giver of life and good health. He is the source of wisdom and ideas.
Secondly, I want to appreciate everyone who have visited even for 1 second. Without visitors, who will I be writing for?
Thirdly, I want to thank all those that have contributed by way of advice, comments and constructive criticism. You are the reason why the blog is getting better.

Special thanks goes to

  • Arnold of ChalkisCheap for including me in the Entrecard Recipro Team
  • Powerdropping for sending free traffic my way
  • Jaseem Umer for picking me as winner of the contest on his blog and giving me one month free 125×125 banner advert.
  • Bola of MumsDadsChildren for diverse suggestions and blogging tips
  • PACE of Eolutosin for providing free consultancy services
  • And others who assisted in various ways, but I have forgotten! (if I forgot to mention your name or blog, please send the complain via my contact form, I promise to make amend 😉 ) .

Finally, I wish to thank my mentors. (You work behind the screen, unknown to my admirers, but the result they see and commend me for could not have been achieved without your gracious contributions). I am grateful.

NaijaEcash – First Month Progress Report

Saturday, April 5th, 2008

This blog was started on the 6th of March, 2008. My goal for starting the blog was stated clearly in my post The Nigerian Entreprenuer Seeking to Make Money Online
One month has rolled by and it is time to take record and evaluate my performance so far.
My main goal for starting this blog is to:

  • Make Money by rendering services online.
  • Get famous in the Blogosphere while retaining my Nigerian Identity.

My target audience is Newbie bloggers and Online Entrepreneurs with special attention to Nigerian Online Entrepreneurs. So far, I have been able to meet over 50bloggers. I have gotten acquainted with about 5 Nigerian Online Entrepreneurs.
My blog statistics for the first month shows the following:

  • Numbers of Visitors – 1,445 (Page Views 2,520)
  • Number of Posts – 14 (Comments – 43)
  • RSS Feed Subscriptions – 11
  • Alexa Rank – 437,823
  • Compete Rank – 826,662
  • Technorati – Rank 874,116, Authority 9
  • Google PR – n/a

So what do you think! How will you score me! (No sentiment please!) I would have love to have a professional review my blog and my one month performance, but I cannot afford one yet 😉 . You can help by giving your candid opinion in the comment. If you love my post, subscribe via email. Thanks

Upgrade Your WordPress Site Without Stress

Friday, April 4th, 2008

I have managed to upgrade my blog from WordPress 2.3.3 to WordPress 2.5 without stress. I used an automatic wordpress upgrade plugin. To me this is an important feat accomplished. I am a non-technical blogger, a total newbie to wordpress (less than 30days old)

Since the release of official release of WordPress 2.5, I have been scared to carry out the upgrade (remember I am a newbie 😉 ) I have been going round the web reading posts about how others upgraded from WordPress 2.3.3 to WordPress 2.5

The testimonies of fellow bloggers did not reduce my fear. In fact I got more scared as I read testimonies of people that got their website totally messed up because they failed to do something right. I have messed up my blog once, but then it was very new (so, it was easy to just redo the whole stuff). I cannot afford such at this point. So I told myself, I will upgrade at the end of April.

Google Adsense and Nigerian Online Entrepreneurs

Tuesday, April 1st, 2008

I have come across several advertisement placed by fellow Nigerian claiming they can make Nigerians rich through Google Adsense. Some of the adverts go this way

  • Make money online while you sleep ….
  • Many Nigerians are making thousands of dollars from Google Adsense e.t.c

The advertisers promises to perform the magic once their special packages (ready-made “Adsense-ready-blogs”, auto-blogging softwares, e.t.c) are purchased. The price ranges from N5,000 to N10,000 (about $40 – $80).
I get amused and angry when I read such claims. Of course I do a quick check on the website of such advertiser . Too many of them have details similar to the following:

  • Web Address – xyz.blogspot.com (free hosting, while earning thousands of dollars per month, I am skeptical!)
  • Site Traffic – XXX (some make the grave mistake of displaying traffic details on their website – less than 1,000 visitors!)
  • Website Popularity – Google PR – Unranked Alexa Rank – x,xxx, xxx (so where are the visitors clicking on the adsense advert to generate the $x,xxx they claim). They must be telling lies 🙁

Enough of the report, What is Google Adsense? Is it an Income Earning Opportunity for Online Entreprenuers, Nigerians inclusive?

NaijaEcash joined RSS Hugger

RSS Hugger Logo

I need more traffic. No blogger is ever tired of getting more traffic. I joined RSS Hugger because they promise to send more traffic my way 😉 (of course free). Other bloggers that joined before me have a good testimony about them so I decided to join the train.

I will be watching my blog statistics closesly so that I can give an update to this post. If you’ve not joined, I encourage you to give it a trial. Since it is free I don’t see why you shouldn’t try it out. You can simply click on the link here or click on the image above to join.

That is another marketing task sub-contracted out. Now we can go to work on posting quality content for the visitors that will be sent by RSS Hugger 😉 Cheers.
