A catchy title, well, you won’t be disappointed. I’ve not posted for some days because I have been attending tutorials both offline and online from those that have made a mark in my area of interest. This morning, I came across a lengthy article by one of Nigerian’s respected blogger, Dipo Tepede with the title GET RICH QUICK. Your guess is right; I dived for the article and read the whole lengthy post. At the end, he has succeeded in scolding me and supporting the “bitter truth” that my other mentors have been trying to hammer into my skull. It wasn’t pleasant, but I had to agree with him because he went to a great deal of trouble supporting his claims with facts, figures and living witnesses.
First, I learnt that I need to get myself educated in the subject of Financial Intelligence. It is the sure and guaranteed way to get “rich quick”. Too many of us aspiring to be rich are illiterates (I’m sorry if that sounds insulting, but I lack a better word) in the subject of Financial Intelligence. It was shocking to read the account of people that earned billions over-night but became paupers few years after. They lost the whole fund they got because they were never equipped with the financial intelligence required for managing money. If you don’t get your mind educated in this area, you can be rest assured that it is just a matter of time, you are bound to lose whatever money you get.
Secondly, I need to put SERVICE before PROFIT. One of my offline mentor, the CEO of Hydroserve Oil Services Nigeria Limited, took great pain in explaining to me that I will not go far as a businessman if I run after profit. He advised that I should place QUALITY SERVICE first, then after a while, when I least expect profit will start flowing and it won’t stop. Another online mentor, Yaro Starak, puts it this way, “Focus on improving people’s lives….” You won’t believe it, he advised that I shouldn’t monetize this blog for the next 6months, I should focus on helping, educating and entertaining people through the blog. That sounds craze, isn’t it. Well, I will tell you the truth, I am having a difficult time implementing that (I had already compiled a long list of all the adverts that I was going to paste all over the blog). But since he is my mentor and I respect his view, I couldn’t throw the advice away, maybe I will keep off paid-adverts for 3 months, what do you think? Even though he made his point clear, I need money to pay the blog bills 🙁
So like a wise builder will ensure that the foundation (which is the hidden part of the building and the most difficult to correct later on) is given the due attention, I am learning all I can to be a successful online entrepreneur. I don’t want to make the CNN news tonight and become history a month or a year after. I want to leave a legacy for generations unborn.
Thanks for visiting and reading my post. You have just contributed (maybe unknowingly) to the realization of my dream, becoming a Nigerian Entreprenuer who makes money online. I will sure love to have you come back often. Cheers.
well six months is just a short time, I know some bloggers who are online for years but reaping the benefits of blogging just now. Giving information on how to get money online actually don’t give you the guarantee that readers will stop by and read your blog especially those who got you from entrecard? I doubt it lol! most of them are here just to drop.
Nevertheless, I find your post so interesting. You are not promising a good income in online marketing, you are telling the readers how much hardwork we have to give before earning a bucks.
Cheers to you!
I’ll put you in my bookmark 🙂

Thanks for visiting and commenting on my post. My focus is not merely on friends that I have at Entrecard, I have a wider focus.
However, the help availabe from Entrecard members cannot be ignored. It is actually a good launch-pad that I can confidently recommend to any new blogger. Cheers.
Hi,
I appreciate your posting this.
This goes to show that there are alot of honest and hardworking Nigerians than fraudsters.

[…] the basics of starting and running a successful online business, the better for you. Running after Get Rich Quick Packages will get you nowhere. You will only end up falling victim to scammers. They promise to […]
well of course, everyone loves to get rich but not everyone would love to do hard work
That’s why many get scammed. Not good come cheap. Gold and diamond are not found on the street. It takes hard work plus no-how to make money online.
Excellent piece! keep sharing your thoughts
For any new business, providing quality customer service is a sure path to sustained long-term growth. Sadly, too many Nigerian businesses are too focused on making profit now and do not have a vision on how the business will grow. They spend money, time & effort to acquire new customers and do not have solid plans to retain them.
Absolutely correct! It takes a lot more creativity to retain customer than is required to get them in the first instance. It is just like visitors to a blog. You can use all manner of tricks and gimmicks to attract visitors to a site, but retaining them is another kettle of fish.
Once a customer discovers that you have nothing to offer that will truly satisfy his or her need, he leaves for the competitor next door. This is where a lot of Nigerian Entrepreneurs are missing it. Especially the small business owners. They focus on today’s sale alone.
Successful Entrepreneur focus on long-term relationship that will generate continuous sales. Such requires a lot of creativity.
Thanks for adding your thought. Cheers.
