Using Windows Live Writer To Post

I just downloaded Windows Live Writer. Getting the installation right was such a difficult task. The installer provided by Microsoft was always getting stuck at 99%.

I tried unsuccessfully to install it using the installer, I spent hours trying again and again without success.

Eventually, I gave up and used Google to search for users who had similar difficulty. good enough, I got two bloggers who wrote wonderful tutorial on how to solve the problem. I eventually settled for the Beta version of the software. I will try the suggestion on how to get the latest version tomorrow. My thanks goes to Jalaj and Design Live for sharing the solution to the problem on their blogs.

    Windows Live Writer is a Blogging Software that enables you compose your posts offline and then send them straight to your blog when you connect to the internet. It is beneficial for bloggers that do not have high connection speed or pay heavily for time spent online. I hope this answer the question.

    @Narendra
    This is my first time of trying it too. I am yet to fully understand how to use it. I had a tough time getting my screenshot posted right. ๐Ÿ™‚

    I had no trouble downloading and installing Live Writer. It’s a very cool tool that I use to compose many of my posts.

    One drawback is that if you have such plugins as SEO on your WordPress blog, you still have to go to the blog to make that happen.

    I do like the way it handles pictures — much easier than doing putting them in wordpress.

  6. It does answer my question. That definitely sounds like an extraordinary tool that can be useful for African bloggers. Perhaps writing a comprehensive guide on how it works may be useful to your readership? (myself included, I would send it to a few people I know ๐Ÿ˜€ )

    I quite agree with you that after composing with Window Live Writer, there is still need for some tweaking from the WordPress dashboard as some features present on the dashboard are not available in Windows Live Writer. The advantage it has is profitable for bloggers with slow or unreliable web-connection. Thanks for visiting.

    @Mwangi
    Indeed it is useful for African bloggers especially those in Nigeria where electricity and internet connections are quite epileptic.
    Writing a guide on how to use it cannot be now, since I am just learning how to use it myself. Maybe in few months to come when I am sure I fully understand how it works, then I will be willing to offer some tips on how to make an optimal use of the tool. For now, any blogger desirous of using it is better off reading the help! I won’t like to be a blind man leading another blind man ๐Ÿ˜‰

  8. Sorry for the inconvenience. Our current “Technical Preview” release shouldn’t give you any install problems and has new features compared to the WLW 2008 version.
