Nigerian Banks Know Your Customer Form
« on: December 29, 2010, 09:31:30 AM »
Has anyone taken time to go through the details been requested by bankers from their customers? I think the details are way too much for a bank account. Why do I need to give such confidential information to my bankers? I think this is more like an abuse of Nigerians privacy and CBN should have a rethink. I don't see the need to divulge personal and confidential information just because I want to put money in a bank.
It may be okay to request such information from those applying for loans, but not everyone. What do you think?

Well, I discover that you can choose to omit some of the details and yet they will collect the form from you. For example, if you feel they have no business asking you how much you earn per year you can simply refuse to put the figure. However, be careful what you fill as it may be used against you in the future. It is better not to fill anything than to put fictitious information. Cheers.
