Business Ideas For Nigerians 1

Are you looking for business ideas for Nigerians? Have you been thinking about what business idea to invest in? Have you been wondering which business idea will give you the best rate of return? Well, I will give you a tip if you will answer the following questions:

  • What is the most traded commodity in this generation?
  • What is the most consumed commodity?
  • What is the most sought after commodity?
  • What is the most valued commodity?

If your answer to those questions is any tangible commodity like crude oil, precious stone or real estate, you are Wrong! The answer is SPECIALIZED INFORMATION! Yes, info-product is the commodity making many guys and gals into millionaires in this generation. Unlike physical commodities, it does not require huge capital to start. Often, you already have all it takes to launch your own info-preneur business. You only need to discover what you have and package it in a way that will make others pay for it.

You too can become a Nigerian infopreneur. It takes some work, but it is not as strenuous as you think and you can start with a little capital. The very first step is for you to discover what you are good at. After that you will need to learn how to package such information as a commodity that others are willing to pay cash for.

What knowledge do you have that others want? Don’t tell me you have none. You sure do, you may not realize it. Here are some quick tips to help you start off.

First Step – Take a piece of paper and write down things you enjoy doing. Simply make a long list irrespective of how irrelevant some may seem at first.

Second Step – Ask one or two relatives to write list of things they feel you know how to do well.

Third Step – Ask one or two close friends to do the same list for you.

Fourth Step – When you have collected all the lists, sit down and compare your list with that written by your relatives and friends.

At the end of the exercise, you will come up with one or two things that almost everyone agree you are good at doing.

Here are some practical examples, some women are making fortunes selling meal recipes and cooking tips. Many of them started after being prompted by their friends to share their knowledge. My partner has been making money teaching people how to bake.

A senior-friend of mine (in his late fifties), makes money by selling info-products that teaches married couples how to remain lovers at old age. He has been a marriage counselor for years and he is in high demand for marriage seminars in many local churches. The fact that he is good at what he teaches is evident in his happy home that is the envy of many around him.

However, for years, he never thought of packaging his wealth of experience into an info-product that people could buy.  After several years of just presenting free seminars and selling other people’s books, he has now developed his own info-products which he sells after each seminar.

He started with A4 paper manuals printed with a LaserJet printer and bounded with spiral binding machine. He produces according to demand and sells directly to participants of his seminars. That was some years ago. Now he is publishing his own books. I believe this example gives you an idea of what you can do too. Let’s get back to the steps.

Fifth Step – Learn how to prepare a HOW TO course for those activities. You will need to do some research and add more information to what you already have as experience. When you have packaged the information, you can publish it as a physical manual or an electronic manual which is made available on CD-Disks or similar devices.

That is it. You are on your way to become an infopreneur. If you need more information use the search engine or ask here in the Nigerian Entrepreneur Forum. I will be willing to lend a helping hand in any way I can. I suggest you subscribe to my free RSS updates so that you will not miss the subsequent posts in this series Business Ideas For Nigerians. Wishing you good success as you launch your infopreneur business. Cheers.

pls help me i have a plan of opening a clean company after all the paper work, the cac papers but no money to buy the items . what do ido

    • NaijaEcash says:

Well, as it is, approaching a bank for startup loan may be out of the idea. Since you won’t have the necessary collateral to back up the loan. However, I will suggest that you make a detailed business plan that shows at a glance what the business idea is, what you intend offering that is better than what already exist in your targeted market and what it will take in terms of resources to achieve success. Type out the business plan and bind it as if you want to submit it to a bank for loan application. When you have done that, get a piece of paper and start listing down all your relatives friends and acquaintances. Just list down as many names as you can remember. Next, take the names one after the other and ask yourself questions such as:
      (1) Will this person be willing to be a part investor in this business? If yes, what percentage of the business am I willing to sell out in exchange for his/her contribution?
      (2) If this fellow is not interested in being an investor, how much can he/she give as loan OR even gift to help me jump-start this business?
      (3) If this fellow can’t help in the ways stated above, can he/she introduce or link me up with someone that can help?
I’m optimistic that this simple step will get help you figure out how to raise the startup capital you need for your business. My only WARNING is that you should be careful who you accept as an investor. Also, the role and reward of such investor must be clearly written down on paper so as to avoid ambiguity later on. Cheers 😉
