Bulk SMS Resellers in Nigeria

Have you started your own bulk sms reseller business?

Have you started your own bulk SMS reseller business? A guy just asked me that question, and I was wondering what made him ask. He was all excited as he gave me a quick lecture on how I have been missing out in the  new multi-million dollar business of reselling bulk sms to fellow Nigerians.

At first I was a bit confused and I was wondering if anything spectacular had happened within the few days I went offline (I took a break from the virtual world to face some pressing issues). As much as I can recollect, bulk SMS has been available as an online business opportunity for more than two years. Well, it didn’t take quite 2minutes before I recovered from the initial shock from his question. He helped me without by unwittingly mentioning the phrase “multi-million”. Whenever I hear the phrase, “multi-million dollar” or “multi-million naira”, my security antenna gets fine tuned. Such phrase often accompany “get rich quick scheme”. This is naija you know. If you play the “mugu”(fool), you may not even live to  regret your action. Anyway, in this particular case, it wasn’t about 419 or Nigerian Scam as foreigners will term it. It is about an old business that some con artists are parading as a new discovery.

Online sale of bulk SMS is indeed the new business-craze in town. Not that it is new elsewhere, just that Naija brothers and sisters have decided to zero in on bulk SMS reselling as the new online business that will bring in the million fast.  In case you don’t understand, the politicians have made it a taboo to think on anything less than seven digit income.  Everyone talks about making a million (naira or better still dollar) as fast as possible. Gone are the days of working patiently for years to build a fortune.

So, whenever a naija brother or sister hits a jackpot with a business idea, be rest assured that within a few weeks, many wannabe entreprenuers will abandon whatever they’ve been working on and rush in to make theirs too (even though many business mentor has pointed out that this is not the way to do business, yet, the lure for quick cash won’t let them listen). It amuse me when I see such rush by newbie entreprenurs who fail to find out how the first guy went from raw idea to achive business success! It is not about duplicating a business, it is all about learning how it works and working SMART. Ok, enough of my personal view.

Bulk SMS is the new business idea rocking right now in naija. Online Forex Trading seems to have lost its appeal. At least those who want to be a millionaire overnight are no longer seeing forex trading as the way to get rich overnight. No thanks to those who have exposed the deceit behind those Forex Trading Seminars. David Ajao won’t be forgiven by many of the con artist. I learnt that the sale of automatic forext trading robots to naija newbie forex traders have dropped significantly.

What is bulk SMS by the way?

Ok, so what is Bulk SMS? First, SMS means Short Message Service .  Bulk SMS  is simply a way of sending simple text messages to numerous contacts at once using the internet instead of your cellphone and you need not go through your telecom service provider. Am not quite sure the Nigerian Telecom operators such as MTN, Glo, Celtel, Zain, Etisalat etc love this idea, because it robs them of the abnormal revenue they make from Nigerians for each SMS sent via their networks. The telecom providers charges for SMS is higher than that offered by bulk SMS resellers.

Why use Bulk SMS?

I just told you.

1. It is cheaper. Unlike your service provider who will charge a higher fee for delivering the same text to a contact on a different network, bulk SMS gateways will deliver all SMS messages at the same flat rate irrespective of the destination.

2. It is easier to send to numerous contacts. Actually toyou can send SMS to millions, within a short time, for example, you can send a message to a million contact in less than five minutes. Once you have purchased the required credit, you upload a list of the contacts and write out the SMS message. One click will send to 1 contact or 1million contact, it is simply your choice.

3. You can schedule the delivery. This is another great feature. You can actually write a message now and schedule it to be delivered at a later date.

Bulk SMS Reseller Business

Ok, so how do I make money online from bulk SMS reselling. Simple, get a reseller account, (I won’t provide any link here because I am not promoting any) you can Google for it by typing “Bulk SMS resellers in Nigeria” into any of the popular search engine. Once you get a reseller account, the next step is to get clients. Yes, you need people who will buy smaller packages of the bulk SMS from you . For example, if you buy 5,000 units of SMS at the rate of 3.5naira per message, you can offer to sell each packages of 200units at 800naira. That is far cheaper to the 5naira that Nigerian service providers charge per SMS, so be rest assured you have a ready market. Also, you can design a website and offer to send SMS on behalf of people. Once they pay you, you simply send the SMS on their behalf to the list of contact they provide at the point of sale. This is a cool business for youngsters. You can sell the service to those wanting to announce an event e.g. a wedding ceremony, burial ceremony or a corporate event. I guess you’ve received such an SMS in recent times.

Some bulk SMS gateway provide the facility of inputting the sender’s number, so that you can actually receive reply. However, some charge a fee for such.

Is Bulk SMS reselling for me?

Well, only you can tell wether bulk SMS reselling is for you. I never encourage anyone to engage in a business he or she does not have passion for. It is easier to succeed at a business you are passionate about than one that irritate you. Now you know what Bulk SMS reselling business is all about. It is not a new business, but for Nigerians, it is a new way of making money online.

Will Bulk SMS Reselling Make me a millionaire?

Well, it all depends on you. Several successful entrepreneurs started off with business ideas that didn’t look promising, and yet they became financial giants. If you get yourself equipped with the right knowledge, set a goal for yourself and work persistently on it, this may actually give you an opportunity to make your first million. However, I must warn you that it will not happen overnight.

Warning: Scam Artists use Bulk SMS as a tool

Some will not agree with that it is not possible to make a million from SMS reselling overnight. I understand, such must have been told the story of someone that started Bulk SMS reselling and hit the first million naira within 30days. Yes, that is “possible”. It is done by sending fraudulent messages to unsuspecting people telling them funny stuffs to get them to reveal their bank financial details or part with some cash. I have received several SMS congratulating me that I have just won a million naira from my telecom provider. The sender name reflects the name of my Telecom Service Provider or her code, however, I knew they were fake because my telecom provider will never inform you that you have won a gift via text message. Instead, a phone call will be made and there will be announcement on the electronic or print media. So when next you receive a text message claiming to be from any of the Nigerian Telecom service provider informing you that you have just won a million naira, remember, this post ;-). That is Bulk SMS being used by a con-artist to dupe you. If you’re greedy enough, you would have coughed out some cash before realizing that you’ve been defrauded.

Ok, enough of the gist. I guess it is high time I go get myself a Bulk SMS reseller account. Who doesn’t want to be a millionaire? For future updates to this post Bulk SMS resellers in Nigeria subscribe to my RSS free updates.

  1. Paul Onwueme says:

    @ Naija enterpreneur,

I remember as far back as 2004 someone was trying to introduce bulk sms business to me as a money spinning venture back then I was even too inexperienced to start and manage a business not to even mention coming up with funds to invest, however over the years many people have been involved in this ‘business’ and I am yet to come across any success stories except for those who market viable products and services like the sports marketing guys of the 2006 Nations cup and world cup (I mean those AIT/BON sports guys). I know they made so much money around that time but they instead patronized premium services from GSM service porviders.

Now for this post I quite agree that the bulk sms can be hijacked by scammers to swindle unsuspecting members of the public but even at that they are likely to waste their time and resources doing so as many naija guys are not as prone as before to sms scams. Your analysis of the business also shows that it is not as lucrative as people make it sound (50 kobo out of 4 Naira) since they would have to resell millions of units to make the so called millions they are out to get.

Nice post overall, but sms bulk reselling is just like every other business what really makes the difference is how you handle competition.

  2. Polprav says:

    Hello from Russia!
Can I quote a post in your blog with the link to you?

  3. A year back, I tried signing up for one of these bulk sms services through Betamax SMS and Clickatell. I was clearly notified that they can’t guarantee that the SMS will be delivered which is why I dropped the whole bulk sms thing.

Besides, the profit margin I’m seeing here doesn’t look wowing @ 50 naira per 200 units sold just as Paul has already pointed out.

Surprisingly, last week an email correspondent notified me he had an account and that if I had friends interested in buying bulk sms, I should refer them to him.

    • NaijaEcash says:

      @ Chukwudi & Paul
You guys don’t want any snail like return on investment 😉 Well that is what Bulk SMS has to offer. It is not a fast revenue online business. It is profitable, but then, the return cannot sustain you except you become a big SMS reseller who sells to smaller SMS reseller. That means, you engage it it at the wholesale level. Of course that will mean getting connected to an international company that has its own SMS gateway and offers SMS reseller packages.
But then, there is another challenge one will have to combat. You can easily run into some serious loss because of the incosistent exchange value of Nigerian naira. At the rate the naira is presently fluctuating, the entire profit you expect can be wiped out and you start selling SMS at a loss to your distributors.
So, I advise that any Nigerian newbie entrepreneur should stick to using Nigerian major Bulk SMS distributor. Even though the profit at that level is small, so also the risk.

  4. This bulksms reseller business as you may have thought has not really boomed in Nigeria. You have your views based on your exposure to the internet, but ask yourself, how many Nigerians are really exposed to the Internet? Bulk sms reseller business in Nigeria is yet to flourish and it will flourish, making millionaires in the process. After which we also expect it to bust. It will for sure make many millionaires in the country. Fastwebsms.com is a Nigeria bulksms gateway hosted in Croatia in partnership with GSM association. Some of our resellers are currently doing above 100,000 sms monthly. By 2010 we expect them to do above 500,000 monthly, and later upto 1million sms monthly. That means that a reseller can make as much as N1 million profit on a monthly basis. But i’m not saying this to impress an aspiring entrepreneur.
One thing we do at fastwebsms.com is that we first expose interested entrepreneurs to an intensive training seasion which we cconduct twice in a month. see fastwebsms.com/practicalseminar.htm
At the training one can be able to learn thee truth about the business and then make the right decision on his or her investment. We have ladies who have attended our training and are doing well now in the business. That is not to say that everyone will do well in this business, but the chances are high now. Thank you for using your plateform to express my opinion even though I chipped in my website links. Check out pastorchrisonline.com/blog

  5. forex_noobtrader says:

I’ve been using BBN bulk SMS. There service is pretty fast, and I’ve had no reason to complain. You can schedule your SMS messages, you can keep a contact diary online and you can group your contacts so that your SMS messages can be sent to the group with a click of the button
Among the different Nigerian bulk SMS reseller, I think they are still the cheapest at N3.50k for 1,000units and above.

  6. Bulk SMS’es are the most efficient and cost effective direct marketing solution through which one can easily reach the targeted audience. The use of mobiles is increasing in India and it really helps marketers to market their products and services.

  7. Recently fastwebsms.com conducted a research on banks using sms alert services, our discovery was amazing. Soe banks are making over N6million daily from sms alert. Imagine how much more other companies can gain from sms services. Major industries like airlines, retail stores, manufacturers, etc., should get into the bandwagon of text messaging revolution before it could too late.

The future of bulk messaging service for entrepreneurs is big and can only be tapped into now so that when everyone would wake up from their ignorance of the huge potential of bulk sms your business would have been so big and can withstand any competition.

you can get our free consultation for you sms business from our website fastwebsms.com

    • NaijaEcash says:

      @Chinedu
I’m not proud of what the Nigerian banks are doing. It is called rip-off. It is ridiculous that they are now using SMS alert as a revenue generating tool. That is not suppose to be so. In normal situation, the SMS is meant to be free since we already pay for the services they are rendering via all those numerous charges they post into customers accounts. I personally consider it cheating, using SMS to generate revenue from unsuspecting customers. Last week, I received an SMS from my banker that they will henceforth charge 10naira per SMS. That means, they are generating about 6.5naira per SMS they send out. Depending on how busy your account is, you can receive as much as 100 SMS alert per month. That means you will pay 1,000naira beside whatever other charges you are already paying. It is quite unfair.

  8. @forex_noobtrader: Could you please leave a link to this BBN bulk SMS? Thanks

  9. I made some fortune last year from it. But some of the adverts are not reliable, and prompt in service delivery as you may expect.

After disappointing my big shot clients several times, I decided to give my self a break from it. I may bounce back soon if I get a reliable super fast bulk SMS company. The ones right now are not it!

Its a good business but don’t invest your money into it. Use your clients money to run it. Its better that way.

    • NaijaEcash says:

      @Adama
This article wasn’t about reviewing any particular BULK SMS RESELLER, that’s why I didn’t provide any link. However, just like forex_noobtrader, I use BBN bulk SMS. Their service has been fantastic. If you want, I can send you an invite. Cheers.

    • AGANGAN CHRISTOPHER says:

I have been a great lover of this bulk sms business and would appreciate if i could get as much as possible information from you on how to start and run this venture. thank you.

  10. @NaijaEcash: Which bank be that oh?

  11. Thanks for the invite. I was only looking to see what their services was like. I’m yet to receive my activation code though.

BTW do they offer a java application for phones with which these sms can be sent or is it just a pc platform thing?

    • NaijaEcash says:

      @Chuks
Well, I should thank you for using my invite 😉 That earns me 10credits. Really their service is ok, but then, like you pointed out I wish they will incorporate a java script that will enable their subscribers send bulk SMS from their phone.
For now, one is limited to the computer platform.

Concerning my banker. It is against my blog-policy to print name of offenders, individual or corporate bodies. Print such name can really create bad publicity. Afterall they are still my banker, if I give them bad publicity and they go under, then I won’t be complain about the charges they force on me for SMS alert, I will be crying about my life savings that is in their coffers, lol. So bear with me, however, I can send their name to you offline if you still wish to know. 🙂

  12. Hey guys! I just want to clarify some things said about bulksms business in this blog. As an investor, I may sound defensive but I will like to be close to the truth as much as possible, and with facts where necessary. I’m defending some issues raised in some comments by some members regarding profitability of bulksms business and using customers money to run the business.

Nobody can deny the fact that bulksms like most other businesses is a profitable one. For someone to say that the profit is a piece meal sounds too weak to be true. What the commentor fails to note is that he never considered marketing. Most Nigerian entrepreneurs do the same mistake and never take marketing to heart. Their understanding of marketing is a bit shallow. They seem to know what to do about marketing but never get it right. That is what my friend should have considered.

Also, bulksms business must be considered as a subscriber based service that requires a long time investment to build, and not an overnight investment. Although, a short time profitability may not be totally overlooked. Its possible, because some bulksms resellers have hit gold in a short time winning a big client with hundreds of thousands in sms volume from a single client. making it possible for them to turn in good profit from the beginning of their business.

It can take good 6 to 12 months to build a profitable bulksms business that can guarantee over N1 million profitability. But the question is how many entrepreneurs wait for such time to start earning good money. They are in a hurry and so never make it. At fastwebsms.com we have trained many successful bulksms entrepreneurs on our platform. Its based on the same idealogy of being able to endure and build a viable bulksms business.

However, for the idea of using customers money to run your bulksms business is not really a good idea. But if you must do so, then you must be very careful. I recommend you work with a gateway here in Nigeria so you can place your order and get it same day. But using clients money to serve him can only work with a big client. Remember that bulksms price advantage is from bulk purchase.

I rest my case. But finally, let us just ask ourselves, what business doesn’t have potentials? It only depend solely on the one who does the business. And if you can do it, get the right knowledge so you can do it much better and faster enough to gain the better advantage that it has to offer.

    • NaijaEcash says:

      @Chinedu
Man you rock! I guess your comment is one of the longest I’ve ever seen on this blog. At first I thought it was one of those copy and paste comment from the freebie naija brothers. But after reading through, I was happy that it was a sincere personal view of the topic.

Back to the topic of bulk SMS reseller. I agree with you that it is possible to make good return from bulk SMS. However, it requires coughing out a huge investment. For example, The cheapest I’ve seen since I started picking interest in bulk SMS reselling is 2.96naira per unit. However, to get that, the SMS reseller will need to buy at least 50,000 units. My basic arithmetics tells me that is a whooping 148,000naira (about $987) investment.

To non-nigerians, that is a chicken change. But bros, let’s be realistic, too many naija brothers and sisters are still scare of the yahoo-yahoo story about internet business (no thanks to all the scammers peddling fake info-products in Nigeria). So convincing any of them to part with such amount of money will require more than marketing skill 😉

Nonetheless, with the little experience that I’ve had as a bulk SMS user, I must agree that it is about the cheapest means of communicating in Nigeria for now. It is cheap, fast and it covers a wider market. When I get my acts together, I will surely start a bulk SMS reseller business. 😉 So consider me a convert already won!

  13. Otunba Jide Omiyale says:

    @ Chinedu’
I think you are right. With effort one can make money in the biz. Posters have forgotten tha N1 profit on N3 is more than 30% and that is not bad. No deterioration of raw materials, and your finished product cannot get bad. To me it is a safe business. Either of Fastweb and BBN will soon hear from me soon.

    @ NaijaEcash

Write a memo to your bank today and tell them you do not need sms alert especially little transactions. You can give them limit. Tell them to send email as you are on the net daily you will not lose anything. If a big withdrawal gets to your acct, your relationship manager should confirm with you on phone.

    These bankers are leeches.

Keep up the job. I love it.

  14. Emmanuel says:

    @forex_noobtrader
Thanks I just checked on BBN. those are the rates that the publish on their website bbnsms.com. I called the BBN bulk sms coy and I discovered that I can buy the service at the rate of N2.65 which allows me to make up to N1 per sms if I am reselling.

  15. Doctor Fox says:

Using 5okobo.com Seems pretty fast and easy to use.
Haven’t seen their reseller platform yet but I’ll give them a call to see.

Seems like Bulk SMS definitely will make sense as a part time business.

  16. onufran6 says:

men! the post here have really being enlightening. bulk sms is truely one money maker. you may think the returns are small with the 50k/N1 profit on each sms but i tell you. do u marketing well (like chinedu david said) and God help u just get those big clients, just get one of those politicians to buy sms units from you and you are made.

  17. angel@nigerian movie industry says:

This sounds promising here since election is coming this may here. I would continue researching on this and might start selling bulk SMS for campaigning politicians.

    • NaijaEcash says:

That sure sounds like a fantastic idea for making money from Bulk SMS reselling. Thanks for contributing. Cheers.

  19. Peter Damian says:

The truth about making money is that you must have the ability to attract enough paying customers. Many people pay lipservice to marketing. No business online or offline can thrive without a marketing plan to attract and keep paying customers. How many people in bulksms business go in there with a well thought out business and marketing plan. Business skills need to be developed by anyone venturing into any business, bulksms inclusive. Most Nigerians think in seven figures, but you cant run if you have not learnt to walk. There is a lot of money to be made in Bulksms, but you have to start from the hundreds to the thousands of Naira before you think of the millions. The challenge is that most people have a get rich quick mindset and they dont see the potential in any business that does not promise seven figures in 30 days. With over 70 million Nigerians with mobile phones its a huge market. Churches, small businesses, etc need this services, You only need to think and ideas will come. With the coming of mobile phone autoresponders the market is enlarging. I enjoyed the post and comments. We need a new mindset on wealth vreation , lets drop the get rich quick mindset, you must not drive an escalade or Rangerover sport in your first year of Bulksms business

    • SCAM ALERT says:

      I just checked out EMRINET.
With all the BIG claims he’s made the site was registered only on the 15th of this Month (15-May-2010).

THE ADDRESS ON THEIR WEBSITE IS FOR A BIG PLAZA BUILDING WITH MANY SHOPS. NO.8 IS THE NUMBER FOR THE ENTIRE COMPLEX. THERE NO SUCH OFFICE AS HE CLAIMS.

BE CAREFUL WHAT BULK SMS SERVICE YOU PATRONIZE. AND THIS APPLIES TO EVERY OTHER FORM OF BUSINESS YOU WANT TO VENTURE INTO.

EITHER CHECK THEM OUT YOURSELF OR CONSULT AN EXPERT IN THE INDUSTRY BEFORE YOU PUT YOUR MONEY DOWN.

  24. @SCAM ALERT: Thanks for investigating oh! Na u be am 😉

  25. EMRINET says:

@scam alert, I think you should do what is right for your self, and stop feeding people with ”I CAN WRITE INFO” for your information N08 is the entire plaza we are on Suite G1-2 iam proud to put my address on all the necessary contacts , just very unlike other resellers. you have the right to choose what you want and patronise who you want to patronise. my message is that I made mistakes initially in the business and iam already sharing the learnings with all my resellers nationwide,

it is not just for us to make noise, but for us to autenticate and validate what you say. non of my clients both individual and cooperate have ever complained of our service especially in this new platform, compare to when we were using asian platform.

    • NaijaEcash says:

EMRINET, it is good that you returned to disabuse our mind about your business being a SCAM! I guess you got people curious with your bogus claim that you sell SMS at N1.80 and you have your platform on a dedicated server. Those are high claims that will make any serious entrepreneur to want to do a serious background check on your business. Never forget that entrepreneurs are not gamblers. They do their research before parting with fund.

When I checked your website, it is displaying that you sell at N2.50. Even though it is cheaper than the price I bought from my current SMS Bulk Reseller, it does not confirm the claim you made in your earlier comment on this site.

I advice that whenever you are making claims about your business online, you state your facts clearly such that others will see you as a businessman with integrity.

However, I must quickly point out that I am not in agreement with SCAM ALERT statements in any way. I suspect that the comment was not made in good faith as the commenter will want us to believe.

      1. The comment was written mostly in CAPITALS, that is shouting. It doesn’t take a shout to make a point.

      2. The fact that the website was registered on the 15th of May, 2010 does not mean that the business has not been in existence in one way or the other before that date. So that cannot be ENOUGH reason to conclude that the business is SCAM. Check EMRINET earlier comment again, it does not state anything about the website inauguration.

      3. That the office is within a plaza does not mean it doesn’t exist. Unless you went round and made enquiry and you were plainly told that EMRINET does not have an office within the plaza, then and only then can you say his claim is false.

      4. Finally, I can say categorically that, SCAM ALERT is not the real online identity of the commenter. That is because the web address of EFCC was used as the website for the comment. That makes me smell a rat.

      5. I’ve noticed that a particular SMS reseller subscribed to this post in a peculiar way. That makes me feel suspicious that someone may be trying to label EMRINET A SCAM just because they are competitors. I’m still investigating. If I have enough evidence to back my claim, I will expose that SMS reseller. Because I believe that is an act of ungodly competition trying to run others business down. The market is large enough to contain all.

SMS bulk reselling business is still in its infancy in Nigeria. It is much younger than domain and webhosting reselling so I don’t see the reason for unhealthy competition and name calling.

This is my personal opinion. I don’t know EMRINET, I have never used their platform and I’m not paid to do a review for EMRINET. If anyone get enough facts and figures to prove that the business is a SCAM, I promise to do a post on it to alert the public. Cheers.

      • EMRINET says:

        @naijaecash,
my website is displaying N2:50 K as our flat rate price of less than 30,000units but if you are buying above 30,000 unit we will sell to you N1.80K , please go ahead and make your investigations, we will be happy to have you buying from us, like I said our office is at N0 8 trinity plaza in Ajibade babatola street off Chivita road Ajao Estate, we are on ground floor Suite NoG1-2
WE STAND BY ALL OUR CLAIMS, because we are realy serious in this business and we want to maintain a lasting relationship nationwide to all clients both individual and cooperate bodies. please we invite you to patronise us.
        many thanks

        • NaijaEcash says:

Thanks for the clarification. It is a good thing that you returned once again to set the record straight. I wish you all the best in your Bulk SMS reselling business. If you ever need a helping hand from a Naija brother, feel free to ask here. Cheers.

please can anybody advice me on how to learn and trade on forex iam so much interested
    Amina

  27. Yeye me. I also jumped into conclusions as well. I guess seeing plenty of scams online has me biased. EMIRNET abeg no vex oh!

  28. SCAM ALERT says:

@Naija Ecash Admin – I do not intend to witch-hunt anyone or label any business as a scam. You access to the emails and website of your commenters is not meant for you to talk about in public.
I’d say you have not regards for the privacy of your visitors, hence there’s no reason for people to input their real details here.

I wanted to do a deal with a bulk SMS company and tried to locate them from the address they gave – after locating No.8 I discovered there were so many shop in the building.

Does anyone agree with big claims made by Emrinet? I certainly don’t!

What platform is on a dedicated server and why does the website have such sketchy details?

If you intend to do business then you must at least appear serious (get a real website).

    • NaijaEcash says:

You are being economical with the truth. What you’re doing is called impersonation! It is ok to use an identity you created purposely for online interaction while hiding your real identity, nobody will get upset about that. However, it is very wrong, an against blogging ethics to impersonate a government agency in other to give weight to an issue that you have not fully verified.

Agreed that Emrinet exaggerated about his business, I guess I wasn’t the only one that pointed out that it is not correct. However, slamming the business as a SCAM and attempting to deceive us by claiming you’re an EFCC official is more than we can tolerate. If you don’t have a website, you could have left the portion empty instead of claiming EFCC website.

Talking about me not respecting my visitors privacy, I can say you missed the point. Go back and read my comment all over again. I never mentioned any bulk SMS reseller name. I only pointed out my observation and issued a warning. Please note that this is a private blog, so I’m entitled to my personal opinion.

Also, note that I never solicited for your email address. For your information, I am not one of those hungry fake-bloggers that harvest subscribers email address and sell it to dubious online marketers. I have a reputation to protect. If I want subscriber, I know how to go about it using services such as AWEBER and GETRESPONSE. I’m not ignorant of the damage that spamming can do for an online business. So, have no fear that I will use your email for anything. I won’t even contact you via your email except you request for help. Other fans of this blog can testify to that.

I strongly advice you to create another identity and drop the present one that you are impersonating with. I guess you don’t really understand the weight of claiming you’re affiliated with EFCC while you’re not. You will be better off using an identity that draw less attention. Forget about changing IP address or browsing anonymously, those things have their limit. When security agents set their mind to discover the real you, they will get at you. It may take a little time, but they will.

If you’re really serious about dealing with a bulk SMS company, I suggest you contact some of those who have posted their details here. I’ve checked some of them myself and I believe they are genuine. Thanks for visitiong Nigerian Entrepreneur. I wish you well. Cheers.

  29. AMINA says:

@naijaecash, please who is this guy parading himself as efcc i think it is about time people with improper identity should be disabled on this site. I was at emrinet office yesterday evening, cos it about the same location to my office, my dear the office is strategically positioned on the road with full discription , i have even patronised them, it is realy a big place. so why on earth will people beacause of compition be distroyn themselves, I think the more scam alert is doing this the more he is advertising the firm, I gathered that the owner of emrinet is a man of integrity that works with one of the multinational coy in Nig. I challenge you to go there and see things your self. please mr naijaecash if this is what people are coming to do on this site I will stop coming here.

    • NaijaEcash says:

Well Amina, the world won’t be such a nice place if all of us have just one opinion. I believe SCAM ALERT meant his action for good and not for evil. A pity he concluded that EMRINET was a scam before thoroughly investigating.
He has already apologized for that (though indirectly) I guess that is sufficient.
EMRINET already did the right thing by returning to this post to clarify his claims. It shows that he has a name to protect and he values his business. I believe this will go a long way into putting confidence into his potential customers.
There is no need banning anyone from comment. Only spammers get’s caught by AKISMET 😉
Thanks for checking out EMRINET office. Cheers.

      • SCAM ALERT says:

Tony, don’t you think this reply of yours is somewhat over self-gratifying?
I was expecting Emry to prove his BIG claims, but somehow you managed to turn everyone around in my direction – good job and so much for the attention.

Ps: Someone might be needing anger-management classes soon. Enjoy yourselves here! I’m out.

  30. SCAM ALERT says:

    @ NaijaEcash Admin
Just to clear the air. I never typed EFCC as my name or signed EFCC after my comment so I don’t see where your comments come in.

Also, I don’t want to think/make anyone here think I am EFCC agent that would be wrong.

Also, posting the EFCC URL does not imply I own the EFCC website or work with them. You probably don’t have a clue why the website field is present in blog comments, so may I enlighten you a little.
The primary reason for the website field is for website promotion and advertising. With so many false EFCC sites out there, my only objective with the URL was for people to learn more about the scams of today.

Although I should have placed a disclaimer which says I’m not affiliated with the former, I believe I can do so now by stating I AM NOT AFFILIATED WITH THE EFCC.
So, if it makes you any happier I’ll leave the website field blank.

Talking about anonymity and impersonation and all the B$!@^$%T you posted above, that’s absolutely unnecessary in this context, as it only shows your lack of authoring depth (go straight to the point).
As a blogger you have the responsibility of ensuring that all your visitors/readers get accurate and valid information (you sort of went overboard on this one while trying to disrepute my comment).

Talking about being economical with the truth, if you say this is a personal blog and you have the right to do what you want, then I’m sorry for ever making a comment here. Let’s all leave you to do the commenting as it’s your personal thing.

    Now back to the topic.
If you wanted to buy airtime from a particular vendor and was told to go to a shopping complex having several floors with lots of shops not clearly labeled then start looking for the shop selling recharge cards, you just might find one but then, would it be the one you were actually looking for or another?

The name of this country is constantly being dragged in the mud by Scammers and the likes. People who do legitimate business on the internet get labeled as fraudsters immediately the mention internet.

So-called Forex Gurus are everywhere with big claims about making huge profits of over 100% of your account within a week and so on…
I know people who do bulk SMS and I know their profit margins.

My first post was a call to EMRINET to defend his CLAIMS, which he still hasn’t.

I have been deceived by such claims in the past and I don’t want people to fall for similar antics.

And talking about dirty marketing and rivalry, I don’t see how I’d be benefiting by libeling someone who probably just got started with bulk SMS a few weeks back.
My only objective – no falsehood, be straight to the point and tell only the truth (we did not come here to play).

    • NaijaEcash says:

I really wish you had stated your point clearly in your first comment. Then nobody would have accused you of any wrong doing or suspected your motive. There is no point you getting upset as you were the one that threw the first punch. The word SCAM is not a word to be taking lightly by any online business owner. Often people making research about an online will simply type the name of the business with the word SCAM or FRAUD into the search engine so as to know if there has ever been any complain of fraudulent activity leveled against that business. Therefore it is advisable to not use it against a business until you’re double sure that the business is indeed a SCAM.

Telling you that this is a personal blog does not mean I look down on my readers. Without readers and fan, a blog is dead. No blogger can own a successful blog without an audience that appraise the work and contribute. Irrespective of my disagreement with your point of view, I still appreciate your commenting on my blog. However, that is not the same as saying I accept abusive words or statements that are half-truth. Ordinarily I would have moderated your post, but I felt since you’re already aggrieved I should simply leave your comment unedited so that others can judge if your opinion are faulty or not.

I must point out that it is rude to tell me that my comment is bullshit. If indeed this blog is about bullshit, then you yourself won’t be here to comment. 😉

Talking about dirty marketing and rivalry, there is no reason you should get upset if you are not engage in the activity. I never directly accussed you of engaing in ungodly competition. I only expressed my doubt about an SMS reseller whose activity I’m suspecting. Since I did not mention name, I guess only the one guilty should be bothered about my statement.

Since you eventually stated your objective, I consider this argument laid to rest. Thanks for spending time to visit Nigerian Entrepreneur. I pray that you will eventually get a genuine SMS bulk reseller that you can safely work with. Cheers 😉

    • NaijaEcash says:

I guess you made an attempt to login during a server hiccup or your Internet service provider had an issue at their end.
I just logged into BBN to send two set of Bulk SMS to my friends. There was no hitch at all.
If you continue to experience the same issue then I suggest you contact them via the following details:
      Phone:

      Instant Messenger:

      Skype Id: companion.bbnplace
      Email: info @ bbnsms.com

I pasted the details from BBN website since you complained that the website is not working at your end. Please note that Nigerian Entrepreneur is not affiliated with BBN SMS Gateway in anyway. Cheers 😉

Thanks for all your threads. Very interactive and educative blog. We have been providing bulk SMS service now for almost a year. As a provider with end users and resellers signed on our network, I can attest to the fact that this is a lucrative business for the serious minded. You don’t get rich over night by doing this business, but this is one of the few businesses where a sustainable stream of income is guaranteed (if you stick around long enough and take it as serious business).

Our brand is Zimoby and I am sure many may not know about us, just yet. We are the next thing in bulksms and will be re-launching (and re-branding) soon. Keep your eyes on this blog as we return with zimoby.com in July.

  34. Ewealths says:

This like the longest comment thread, I have seen in long while with a lot of long comment, it shows we really like money in Nigeria, thanks admin for keeping up the fight for honesty.
    I just joined clicknreach.com

    • NaijaEcash says:

Well their were allegations about the authenticity of some Bulk SMS Resellers and there was need to supply facts and figures. That I believe was what gave rise to the lengthy comments. Like you pointed out, any effort to fight for honesty is a good one. Nigerians are being defrauded daily yet, we are being labeled in the international community as fraudsters. All because of few Nigerians that believe that the best way to make money is by defrauding others. I hope you enjoyed the article irrespective of the long discussions in the comment section.
What is your experience with clicknreach.com like? I’m still using BBNSMS.com for my bulk SMS service. They may not be the cheapest in the market but they are reliable.

  35. Ankit says:

SMS business is the business of the future. The cost billboards and TV adverts are so expensive.

Also note that it is not being cheap that matters, what is important is the ability to deliver.

Our Company has an SMS Reseller package that is very attractive. You may try it on swiftmessenger.virtualinks.net.

If you want to be a reseller, send us an email to reseller@virtualinks.net.

  38. PrinzLaddie2000 says:

I Need a flat rate of how much my orgnisation can subscribe for bulk smsm in Nigeria. I mean a benchmark price that can be affordable for my organisation.

    • Hi, if you want a good bulk sms rate for your organisation, go for a contract service. You will get a good rate on contract that is better than normal rate. But you must give your organisation monthly volume usage and possible annual volume, and what you use sms to do. That would help you get a good contract rate. But be sincere because contract deals have clause that would tarminate the deal within the grace period if you falter.

  39. I have watched over a long time what’s happening here. I think, this blog have lived up to expectation. Not just for the number of people that visits, but also for the quality of responses. I think it should be maintained.
I have a few things to comment on. The recent interest from entrepreneurs on bulk sms business is expected considering the huge potential for profit that is possible in bulk sms business. And as a communications consultant and also as a bulk sms gateway operator, I can tell anyone who want to start bulk sms business to DIVE STRAIGHT IN.
However, I want to offer some quality advice. The business is volume driven, and you need good customer base to drive volume. I have heard some customers who want to sell 100 sms, 200 sms, and so on. It’s not bad, but i can’t sell that to a client now. It doesn’t make sense. Bulk sms is not for individual use even though individuals use it. Bulk sms is for marketing, advertising, promotion, campaign, etc. It’s for BULK messaging and not for customers who want to greet their folks.
To make profit you must position your bulk sms business to target customers who use bulk sms for business purposes. That’s the way to get volume. If you target folks who want to send cheap sms to their friends, you will be selling 100 sms. Imagine how many 100 sms you can sell in a month to get volume. I have single clients who do 500,000 sms on a monthly basis, and 50,000sms clients, 100,000sms clients monthly. That is where the business is. If you start by positioning yourself as an all folks bulk sms site you will get all folks as customers and those guys don’t buy nothing. Can you survive on 500 sms volume from one client in 90 days?
God forbid you would say. Then target the businesses. I know you would want to ask me, HOW? My answer is POSITIONING. This is a blog I will say little. But I have written a book on BULKSMS business success in Nigeria titled: The Bulk SMS Bible. However, I don’t intend to sell it. i will be giving it away for FREE. My only gain is that when you read that eBook you will want to sign up with my gateway.
If you follow those who know you will know. I know there are several bulk sms companies offering reseller packages, but not many will help you grow the business.
This is not an advert, just to make a few things clear. The FREE eBook: The Bulk SMS Bible will be available on my private website http://www.chinedudavid.com from next week. The site is undergoing makeup right now. So till next week.

  40. Cheap Bulk SMS says:

Interesting Forum, The first of its kind, Keep on posting

  41. Dare says:

We have an ongoing price war raging in the market. Some companies are offering N1.50, N1.70, N2. See the offer I got from someone:

    100,000SMS Credit: N1.65
    200,000 SMS Credit: 1.55
    500,000 SMS Credit: N1.50
    1million SMS Credit: N1.00

Are these prices realistic? If so where are they getting their purchase from?. For those of us who are reselling, we should consider buying from a reputable provider abroad and using our pooled resources negotiate a good price. As this forum has grown and very successful at that, this is what I will suggest:

    a) We form a partnership of bulk SMS resellers on this forum. We might be lucky to have 50-100 companies or individuals who want to be part of the partnership

    b) We pool our resources together eg each company contributing say N500,000 can easily give us N25million – N50million.

    c) With this bulk amount, we can approach reputable providers and negotiate a good price

    d) The partnership will sell to the market including selling to us. That means that we will buy from the partnership as individual companies but of course with a concessionary price.

    e) Partnership will run monthly account to show profit earned by the partnership and how much has accrued to each partner. The more you have invested as a partner, the more you share

    f) Partners can take out their profit and leave their capital or re-invest their profits.

I did this successfully with investment club which I formed to pool members funds to invest in the stock market. This model is learned from the Igbo traders. Thats how they pool their funds to get the best price on importation. Because of that, an outsider will find it difficult to compete.
If guys are interested, please email me at info@whitestonetech.com. We should take this forum to the next level.

The second thing that came to my mind is regulation. What happens if we wake up one morning and the GSM companies who are not as competitive in pricing as bulk sms, take a case to NCC or National assembly aagainst bulk sms?. They can tell any lie and all they need is approval to block bulk SMS. Where does that leave us. We can move a step ahead of them by forming an association of Bulk SMS Providers that will have a say before NCC and other regulators so that we are not seen as faceless people. Also in my experience with cybercafes many years ago, I advised of an association to forestall things like this. If you recall, NCC almost banned cybercafes. There are several benefits an association can do for us. For example, we can regulate pricing. To do this, we will find a way to make membership attractive and once you are a member, you will have a reason to stick with the association price. An association gives us identity and we can regulate the conduct of members and the way the business is been done. We can get involved with end user complaints and customer satisfaction. For example just as we have dropped calls in GSM we also have unterminated messages etc. We can be involved with training of members and users especially in things like API and corporate bulk SMS where we can integrate bulk SMS for banks, insurance companies and companies who send automated notification to their customers. A lot can be done.

These are my thoughts for now and please feel free to share your ideas.

    Dare

    • NaijaEcash says:

This is such a creative idea. I think you should make a post in the forum, https://www.naijaecash.com/forum, so that you will have enough space to receive responses and monitor progress. You made such a good point. Cheers.

    • AMINA says:

I became interested in reselling bulk sms but along the line, most of my customers that iam selling N2.50 to, left me for another seller who sells at N2 flat rate any quantity, it is crazy. I think we need to have a forum that regulate this otherwise the big guys will hijack it from us. I realy dont know the best way to organise our selves to have an organisation may be association of bulk sms resellers of Nigeria ABSRON

      GUYS THINK OF IT.

      • NaijaEcash says:

Amina, since Dare is already thinking in line with this, I suggest you send him an email. You two might be able to kick-start something. I already told him that the forum section of the website can be used for that purpose without any charges whatsoever. Cheers.

    • Dare, I just read your mail for the second time. The first time I felt, this is along journey from home, but now I felt if we don’t begin this journey we may never get home. Dare, thanks for all your suggestions. The first idea of pulling fund together will work if the second idea of forming an association is first achieved.
So, I suggest we begin with forming the association. But one of the concerns of any associate is getting members to participate always. People have different interests. But its worth giving a try. However, we need at least 5 people o start the process of forming the association. I’m available. email: chinedudavid@gmail.com

Pal, you need to be more cautious with your statement. It is obvious to me from your statement that you are a newbie in internet business. Even if you are a guru, you’ll rather another sing your praise instead of blowing your own trumpet.
Back to business. It is not just about cheap prices. It is also about quality service! The bulk sms service I’m currently using is not the cheapest in the market. But the provider has won my respect. I’ll let you in on their secret.
      1. They are quick to apologize and take responsibility for any inconvenience suffered during server outage (even though any webmaster can tell you that machines do break down. Even multi-million dollar websites such as facebook and twitter suffer such outages, talk less of a small business entrepreneur operating from Nigeria).
      2. They work tirelessly to improve their interface such that one can easily use the service without reading a manual.

  50. Dare says:

I am afraid this price war will soon end and those looking for quick profits without long term sustainable business model will give way for serious minded companies.
I will like to jump start my earlier proposal for an Association. Please post ideas please. You can also email me at info@zimoby.com

    Dare

    • NaijaEcash says:

I totally agree with you. Low price may get you a customer, but it will take more than a competitive price to retain a bulk SMS customer. Nigerian Entrepreneurs are quick in joining the bandwagon of any business that look lucrative. That a business is lucrative or promise quick returns is not enough reason to go into it.

Just like you pointed out, the present price war ongoing in the bulk sms reseller business in Nigeria will soon come to an end. By then, those who have done a proper work in building there Bulk Sms reselling business as a system offering total solution to the communication needs of customers will be the only one left standing.

I visited your website and I am impress by the presentation and easy navigation. I do hope you have an equally good back-end platform to deliver quality service. Keep up the good work. You may be striving to stand out now, but soon when QUALITY SERVICE becomes the standard for judging who to do business with, you can be rest assured that your website will be standing tall among the CUT and PASTE websites being used by other competitors. Cheers
